A linen mix loose weave fabric suitable for punch needle.
Linen is an alternative foundation fabric which can be used for punch needle and rug hooking. If you have already experimented with monks cloth, you'll find that this linen punch needle fabric has similar qualities. It's neutral, natural colour lends itself well to projects where you would like to leave part of the background exposed. It has an even weave similar to monks cloth.
When the linen fabric is put under tension it will allow the punch needle to move through and then spring back to grip the loops. As it is loosely woven it may appear that the punch needle is making holes in the fabric, it isn't, it is just moving the threads apart. The linen fabric is flexible, you can pull your yarn out (when working) and re-punch an area. Just lightly scratch the surface of the fabric with your punch needle and this will encourage the threads to move back into place.
Due to the loose weave of the fabric it is prone to fraying. It is recommended that once you receive your fabric you secure the edges. You can do this by using an overlocker (serger), a sewing machine or by using masking tape.
If multiple lengths are ordered fabric will be cut as one continuous piece.
