100% cotton monks cloth fabric for punch needle.
Monks cloth is a foundation fabric which is predominantly used for punch needle and rug hooking. The fabric has been designed to withstand the pressure from a punch needle and to be durable for use in making rugs. It is woven with a double strand of cotton which makes it very hardwearing.
This monks cloth has two inch white guidelines running across the fabric. These guidelines will help you to keep your design straight when stretching over a frame or hoop.
When the fabric is put under tension it will allow the punch needle to move through and then spring back to grip the loops. As it is loosely woven it may appear that the punch needle is making holes in the fabric, it isn't, it is just moving the threads apart. As is so flexible, you can then pull your yarn out (when working) and re-punch an area. Just lightly scratch the surface of the fabric with your punch needle and this will encourage the threads to move back into place. This makes it perfect for beginners as it is very forgiving and can withstand being punched multiple times in the same area.
Due to the loose weave monks cloth is prone to fraying. It is recommended that once you receive your fabric you secure the edges. You can do this by using an overlocker (serger), a sewing machine or by using masking tape.
If multiple lengths are ordered fabric will be cut as one continuous piece.

Best monkscloth I’ve used by far. Will definitely be ordering again, thank you!
I'm a newbie to punch needling and took the common advice to buy monk's cloth for ease of use. I've pulled out and repunched a few rows and it always self heals. I haven't found it cheaper elsewhere yet either.
Great quality Monks Cloth at a very good price. Sara is also very helpful with queries about both her products and needle punch in general.
